Thirty-five years ago, I founded my executive search practice, Leyendecker & Associates. From that moment, my career as an armchair economist began. If you're a business owner and don’t also closely study the economy, surviving business cycles will be difficult. You have to understand the present well enough to position your business. And you have to anticipate the future accurately enough to prepare for it. Doing so creates sustainability. Here I am thirty-plus years later.
My parents suggest I drove them crazy as a child with endless "What's that?" Since then, I have had an insatiable appetite for "what's that," "how does that work" and "why does it work that way?” Maybe one day I'll get a few things figured out.
By the way, that's me with a tiger fish, caught in the fall of 2013 in the Okavango Delta of Botswana. Fierce and beautiful, as Mother Nature provides. Bliss? You bet!
